Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My right eye automatically starts to blink whenever I used to eat something or do movements from my mouth. I checked with a doctor a few years back, they did not give me any sort of appropriate results for that. My parents also checked with some doctor in childhood and never got any result for that. How it can be possible that there is no solution for that as everything is possible in this world. Many times I feel bad and embarassed when people noticed my defected eye. Kindly solved my query.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The condition that you are describing here closely resembles a condition called Marcus gunn jaw winking. This causes a drooping of the affected eyelid with such movements of the eyelids on jaw movements. The cause for such movements is due to various factors, the nerve which supplies the facial muscles erroneous supplies the eyelid muscles, while in normal situations these are distinct and do not supply both these muscles together. The treatment for such a condition is surgical and would need the expertise of an oculoplastic surgeon. This would be available in most eye hospitals. Although, the success rates are variable and you may need more than one surgery in the long run.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
