Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thank you for your reply.

This has been happening for the last one and a half months. Earlier, it was blackish with diarrhea. I consulted a doctor who gave me medication for a GI tract infection (Satrogyl o, Pan-D, and Econorm) for five days. The diarrhea is cured. Now, it is three to four times in the morning in quick succession.

And after that, once in the evening. But mostly, it is blood, like heavy menstrual flow. There is no weight loss or pain, and no family history of TB, cancer, or IBD. I mostly eat at home. I have been taking Amydio forte syrup for seven days for the last two days. I have no other issues except the bleeding.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Blood in stools is not normal. I suggest you go for some simple investigations like a complete blood profile, C-reactive protein (CRP) test, and a detailed stool examination to see the level of infection in stools. You should be treated with antibiotics (if there are no known drug allergies). I would suggest:

1. Tablet Metronidazole 400mg three times per day after meals for five days.

2. Tablet Ciprofloxacin 250mg twice daily after meals for five days.

3. Anti-spasmodic tablet like (No-spas or Colofac) twice daily, half an hour before breakfast and dinner for three to five days.

If symptoms persist even after this or if there is a significant abnormality on laboratory reports, you may need a colonoscopy to see what is happening inside the colon. I hope you find this information helpful.

I hope this helps.

Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
