Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had blood in the stool, and it has been visible on the tissue since yesterday. I am 12 weeks postpartum after a C-section delivery. I have attached the pictures. My doctor checked and told me that there are no hemorrhoids.
Should I be concerned?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I reviewed your pictures (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). Blood in stool is often distressing for the patient and can be due to a solitary rectal ulcer, mucosal erosion, gastroenteritis, piles, fissure, or a tumor. A definite cause can only be concluded after a detailed physical examination along with a full-length colonoscopy and CECT abdomen (contrast-enhanced computed tomography) if required.
I will suggest you to get in touch with a general surgeon and get yourself examined. The doctor performing a colonoscopy might take a sample. I suggest you to consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medicines with their consent. Do revert back after getting examined by a general surgeon and the colonoscopy report.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
My appointment is getting delayed. Please provide suggestions.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I would suggest you to consult with a specialist doctor, talk to them, and take medicines with their consent. Take laxatives and do a Sitz bath (sitting in lukewarm water with 10 % Povidone iodine solution in it, three times a day for 20 minutes each time).
I hope this has helped you.
Thank you.

Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
What about the pressure experienced during excretion?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
It can be due to a polyp or hemorrhoid. It is hard to say without an examination or colonoscopy.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Should I be concerned about cancer?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
The possibility of cancer at your age is quite unlikely, however it can only be ruled out after a colonoscopy or biopsy.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I have gone through your colonoscopy report as well as your biopsy report. I want to reassure you that there is nothing serious. Your colonoscopy report does show external hemorrhoids, which is what has been troubling you. Continue with your medication as well as Sitz bath. In all likelihood, it should subside by these measures themselves. And change your eating habits. Avoid constipation at all costs. Just in case it does not subside by medication, then you may be advised surgery. But to be honest, most of my patients respond well with medication, Sitz bath, and dietary modification.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I got it. Also, the microscopic biopsy description says scattered plasma cells in the colon and rectum. Does that mean anything doctor?
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
Scattered plasma cells in the colon and rectum are quite common. These are cells that fight against infection. Everyone has them. Do not get worried about these. Also, eat lots of curd or yogurt.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
My symptoms subsided in the middle and then again for the past week. I had a hard stool since yesterday. I have blood in my stool and I saw blood drops in toilet water and also two small lumps like blood on my stool. Also, I am getting pain when passing stool and also even when I am sitting doctor. I am so scared not sure what it is.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
In all likelihood, you have either hemorrhoids or fissure-in-ano secondary to constipation. Take laxatives and eat plenty of curd and fruits. Wait for a week, if the problem still persists then get yourself checked by a general surgeon.

It is good to know that atleast we have a diagnosis now for your complaints. You must have been advised medications for the same, or has surgery been advised?
I hope this has helped you.
Thank you.
