Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a bone graft done three years back. They placed the abutment six months later. I went back two weeks later to see how it was going and took X-rays. I came back to see how everything healed after a few months. The doctor said that it was not healed. So he wanted to take out the abutment and re-do the bone graft.

Is this the right course of action? Who will say it will work this time if it does not work the first time?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern

Your chief complaint suggests that the bone graft has not worked successfully, so the doctor has advised you to repeat the procedure. There can be many reasons for this, such as technical issues, bone resorption, and infection at the site. So probably, your dentist will try to evaluate it to readjust or remove it. I suggest you go to a good periodontist to fix the problem. If you share your general body history, habits, and any drugs are taken, it will help to address your problem properly.

I hope this helps.

Thank you and take care.
