Does smoking weed cause consistent brain fog and vertigo?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been having consistent brain fog and vertigo spells for the past few days after I smoked weed. It all started with an anxiety attack at work and since then I have had, these symptoms. It has been two weeks. I went to the hospital and my blood test and urine are normal.

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Thank you for your query.

I understand your concern. Your symptoms could be related to anxiety. Anyway, considering the history of smoking weed, I would recommend consulting with a neurologist for a physical exam and brain MRI, and an EEG for seizures. Some blood laboratory tests are necessary (complete blood count for anemia, thyroid hormone levels for thyroid dysfunction, and blood electrolytes). You should discuss with your doctor on the above tests.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My mood has been okay. So I do not think I have seizures. I got my blood tested for thyroid and anemia and they came back normal.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

I would conclude that it is just a temporary brain dysfunction due to the weed. For this reason, I would recommend performing a lot of physical activity (yoga, aerobics, recreational sports, etc.) and taking plenty of fluids.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
