Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 45-year-old woman with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) and want to support my treatment and health. I have heard conflicting diet advice; some recommend a low-fat diet, while others suggest a ketogenic approach. I am also unsure if it is safe to continue my usual workout routine during chemotherapy.
I want to improve my prognosis and maintain the best quality of life during this challenging time.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
A balanced, plant-based diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins like fish and poultry is beneficial for cancer patients. A low-fat diet may reduce the risk of recurrence, and anti-inflammatory foods like berries, leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and omega-3-rich options are recommended. Avoid processed foods and excess sugar to support overall health.
Physical activity, such as light walking or yoga, is encouraged during treatment to boost energy, mood, and physical function. Complementary therapies like acupuncture and meditation can help manage side effects like anxiety and stress. Staying hydrated, practicing deep breathing, and allowing your body to rest are also essential. Regular check-ups with your oncologist are crucial for monitoring progress.
I hope this helps.
Let me know if you have any other concerns.
Thank you.
