What is the treatment for a nipple lump in men?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 24 years old. There is a lump backside of my nipple, I think it is breast cancer. Recently my grandmother died of breast cancer. What is the next step?
Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
A lump near the nipple area is quite common in your age group and is often slightly painful to touch. This condition is typically caused by hormonal changes and is known as gynecomastia. It is usually benign and not a sign of cancer. You have two options: you can opt for excision and follow up with a pathology report, or simply monitor the lump without taking immediate action. In most cases, there is no need for concern, but consulting a healthcare professional for an evaluation is always recommended.
I hope this addresses your concerns.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for the reply.
I am experiencing pain when I touch the lump, and its diameter is around 1.5 cm. Should I consult a doctor, or will this issue resolve on its own in a few days? Also, can I use Pantodac 40 mg to address this problem?
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
If the pain is bothering you, it is better to lump excised. Please note that Pantodac (Pantoprazole), a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), will not help in this case. The excision is a simple 30-minute procedure that can be done under local anesthesia.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and take care.
Regards.
