Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 34-year-old female. I never do exercises and not sure whether I am eating healthy food. I have a lump-like thing in my left breast, which was treated for milk cyst. A biopsy was made 8 years back to remove the milk cyst. Again there is a lump on the same side but a different place. I often get pain in that area. Is that anything related to cancer or just a lump? My family doctor told me not to worry about it since I have pain in that area. Should I be concerned about this?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I can understand your concern. I understand that you have a lump in your breast which is now recurring. Please understand that these lumps are sometimes fat swellings present which can move from side to side known as fibroadenoma, however, these are benign means not cancerous most of the time. It is good that you got yourself evaluated and a biopsy showed that of a cyst. Some people tend to form these swellings if the doctor physically checked them and did not see any changes in the skin or surface of swelling then it is less likely to be cancerous. However, it is always better to check if the size is increasing or not and see the changes with time. Maybe during follow up you can get it checked once again or an ultrasound of the breast or if in doubt a biopsy once again may help.

I hope this helps.
