Common "Breast Self-examination" queries answered by top doctors | iCliniq

Breast Self-examination

Breast self-examination is a necessary procedure that every woman is advised to perform routine to identify the presence of tumors or cysts of the breast, if any, in the initial stages resulting in a better prognosis with minimal treatment. It includes looking for changes in the breast's color, size, shape, and nipple secretion. Palpation of the right breast with the left hand and vice versa during lying and standing positions with hand raised above the head is advised. Palpation covering the top, sides, bottom, and over the nipple region and surrounding it must be performed. Any palpable mass necessitates the physician's help for further investigation, diagnosis, and treatment.
