Can hormonal changes cause intermittent right breast pain?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have experienced pain in my right breast, specifically in the center part, which goes on and off, but when I press it, it does not pain. Do you think it is just part of the hormonal cycle?

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Usually, this pain may be the reason for hormonal changes, but you have not provided me with more details, such as your marital status, etc. During the feeding period, there is a risk of developing a breast infection which can cause pain. How long have you had this pain? Do you have any family history of breast cancer? You should also palpate your breast and check whether it is hot and if any feeling of a lump or any skin changes on the breast is present. Do not worry; usually, in your age group, it is very rare to develop any serious problems with the breast. But without examining physically, it is difficult to comment.
