Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My eyelids have become more hooded.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

There can be a number of causes which could give rise to an appearance of a hooded eyelid. The most common of which are eyelid bags ( for which you may be using lid taping), although a reaction to the tape is possible, it is a rare occurrence, dermatochalasis which is caused by eyelid skin sagging down, this is benign and needs surgery like blepharoplasty, blepharochalasis is a reactionary swelling and needs a detailed evaluation to get to the cause of the problem and treatment with eyedrops and tablets and epiblepharon which is an extra fold of skin since childhood. This also may need surgery. If you could attach a photo of your eyelids while closed and send me, I could probably be able to help you regarding the cause and treatment.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

I have attached the file.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

There are definitely lid bags in both your eyes but they are looking of even size (attachment removed to protect patient identity). In case they have increased after taping, just give it some time to settle down. There may be some swelling in that region caused by taping or any cosmetics you used to cover the tape with. With that said, there is nothing to be worried and let us give it some time to heal. Please use the exact technique mentioned on the tape for application and avoid putting too much pressure. I would also say that you can undergo blepharoplasty surgery if interested. This would be a permanent procedure and avoid the need for taping every now and then.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
