Why does the skin remain raised, stiff, and itchy after recovering from burn?
Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
I have recovered from 40 percent burn damage, but still, my skin is raised, stiff, and itching. Should I consult a doctor?
Please help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I reviewed the image (attachment removed to protect the patient's identity). The image depicts a hypertrophic scar. First, apply the emollient twice daily and massage it into the spot. Next, create a pressure garment in the size of your hand and leg and the healed burn region. These items will alleviate the itching and raised skin. However, you must wear the garment for 24 hours and use it for 8 to 12 months.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.

Hi doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
Which emollient should I use on my skin? Please suggest a name. Is there anything else I can do to reduce the itching?
