Is stromal distortion in breast ultrasound a cancer risk?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

My breast ultrasound came back with stromal distortion noted in my right breast. What does it mean? Will it lead to breast cancer?

Please help.

Thank you.

Answered by Dr. Pandian. P

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

The distortion in the breast stroma is mostly due to previous surgery or biopsy. It does not imply breast cancer. Now we cannot predict any cancer. But the regular follow-up is mandatory.

1. Have you undergone any surgery?

2. Are any of your family members or close relatives affected by breast cancer?

3. Have you breastfed your children?

Please provide full details to help us assist you better.

I hope this helps.

Kindly revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
