Can canker spanker be used long-term to prevent canker sores?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been using the canker spanker for over a year to prevent canker sores (mouth ulcers), and it has helped me.

  1. Can I use it always?
  2. Also, why is it not widely available everywhere?

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I am here to answer your queries.

Most doctors and dentists believe in prescribing medicines to treat ulcers (canker sores). We try to remove the causative agents of ulcers. Ulcers occur due to many reasons and that is why most doctors do not keep canker spankers in offices. They have good results but not for everyone. You are using them but the ulcers in the mouth have the nature of reoccurring at the same place again and again.

It is good if you are feeling better with it but there are many who get no benefit from it and have to go for medications like multivitamins, vitamin B12, etc. Like using a spanker, even if you use honey over ulcers and let it dry, you will get better results. It depends upon the type of ulcer and oral hygiene.

I hope this has helped you.

Thank you.
