Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My friends and I occasionally smoke a joint when we hang out at the ranch, just for fun. It is not regular, only when we come across some good stuff. Lately, I have been hearing that cannabis consumption can lead to psychosis. Is there any truth to that? Could our casual smoking affect our mental health? It sounds pretty scary, and I certainly do not want to mess with my mind. But I also hear a lot of mixed messages about cannabis, some say it is harmless, while others claim it has serious mental health risks. Can occasional use really cause these kinds of problems?
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
Cannabis (marijuana or weed) is not as good as people market it. I have seen patients who have consumed just one joint, and become psychotic. Many people do not have any problem even consuming it for years, but that does not mean it is safe. I am not sure about whether it will affect your mental health or not. But I never allow or prefer to smoke cannabis. You must stay away from cannabis.
I hope I have answered your question.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards.
