Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
A few months ago, I got a painless bump on the upper eyelid. It was probably a chalazion. I consulted a doctor, and she told me to do warm compresses. She advised me to wash my eyelids with baby shampoo three times a day. She told me to follow these measures for two weeks.
If it does not subside, then she advised me to take a steroid shot. I have followed these procedures, and the bump is still there. Please help me. A year ago, I got styes in my eyes every month. Recently, it got resolved and has not been occurring for the last three to four months.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
For having a recurrent chalazion, you can take an injection of Triamcinolone, and it is a good option. Repeated surgical removal causes damage to the tissues. You need to consult an ophthalmologist to have an injection if it bothers you cosmetically.
A small chalazion can disappear on its own, but you need to wait for some time. You need to check for refractive error also, and if yes, then correct it. Stress, hormonal imbalance, and sinusitis with repeated blowing of the nose can cause painful styes.
If the pus does not come out completely, then it can form a chalazion. You can use antibiotics with anti-inflammatory eye drops for a month to reduce the problem.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
