How can a 35-year-old increase their sexual desire?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 35-year-old married man with two children. It has been more than four years since my marriage. Recently, I have noticed a decreased interest in having sex with my wife. We have sex rarely, only about once a week, and I also experience low stamina and a lack of sexual desire or arousal.

Please advise me on possible treatments or medications.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I understand your concern.

Low libido can have several underlying causes, including:

  1. Infections: A urinary tract infection may be a contributing factor. It is advisable to perform a complete urine analysis and an ultrasound of the pelvis to identify any infections.
  2. Diabetes and hypertension: Please ensure that your blood pressure and blood sugar levels are under control. If you are already on medication, kindly share the names.
  3. Hormonal imbalances: Low testosterone, thyroid dysfunction, or elevated prolactin levels can lead to decreased libido.
  4. Recommended tests: Thyroid function test, serum testosterone, and serum prolactin.
  5. Obesity: Being overweight can negatively affect libido. Regular exercise and yoga are highly recommended.
  6. High cholesterol: This can impact blood flow and sexual performance. Please get a lipid profile done and follow a routine of regular physical activity.
  7. Chronic illness or long-term medication: Ongoing health issues or certain medications can reduce sexual desire. Please share relevant details.
  8. Psychological factors: Anxiety can also contribute to low libido.

Recommended investigations:

  1. Ultrasound (USG) of the pelvis to rule out pelvic infections.
  2. Thyroid function tests.
  3. Lipid profile to assess cholesterol levels.
  4. Random blood sugar (RBS).
  5. Blood pressure monitoring.

Please provide more detailed information related to the above potential causes so that we can determine the most appropriate treatment plan. As a temporary measure, you may consider taking Tablet Mildfil (Tadalafil) 5 mg twice daily, but this should only be used under medical supervision.

Thank you for using iCliniq, and I hope you have a great day.
