Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My wife has no sexual desire. Sometimes, when I initiate intimacy, there is an unpleasant odor. She is 38 years old. How can this be addressed?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Based on what you describe, your wife is experiencing low sexual desire (hypoactive sexual desire) and occasional vaginal odor, which are relatively common issues in women around her age. Low libido can result from a combination of hormonal changes, stress, fatigue, relationship dynamics, or past experiences, and sometimes medical conditions such as thyroid disorders, diabetes, or medication side effects.
The unpleasant odor may indicate a vaginal infection, such as bacterial vaginosis, yeast infection, or, less commonly, a sexually transmitted infection, all of which can affect comfort and desire during intimacy.
The first step is for her to have a gynecological evaluation, including a pelvic exam and vaginal swabs if needed, to rule out infections and check hormone levels if indicated. Good genital hygiene, safe sexual practices, and treatment of any infection will often improve odor and comfort.
Addressing emotional and relational factors is also important, as stress, fatigue, or negative sexual experiences can reduce desire. Couples counseling or sex therapy can help improve intimacy, communication, and mutual sexual satisfaction.
I hope it helped with the query.
Feel free to ask any questions.
I will be happy to guide you.
