How to manage chest discomfort?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I had a slight chest discomfort recently and thus visited a cardiologist. He advised me to take an electrocardiogram (ECG). The ECG was a digital (3-CG Cardiogram 3 Channel Graf) meter, and I could see it printed on them as suspected anteroseptal myocardial infarction. After checking (both physical and ECG reports), the cardiologist informed me nothing seemed to be wrong and that the chest discomfort was due to gas. He prescribed me Pantacid (Pantoprazole) tablets. I am now ok. Last week, I underwent a health check-up. The report of the health check-up is attached to this. I think it is better to consult you first. Would appreciate it if you could guide me with your valuable suggestions.

Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and can understand your concern.

I went through your reports.

I think the printed diagnosis of the machine made you worry. The result obtained by a machine is not reliable and none of the cardiologists even take a look at it. In fact, I have closed that option on my machine. So no need to be worried.

I would like to ask you for some information. These include:

  1. Your age.

  2. Any history of smoking.

  3. Any history of chest pain or difficulty in breathing priorly.

  4. Do you consume alcohol? If yes, then for how long and how much?

  5. Are you a smoker or a non-smoker?

I checked your reports and found that there is an increase in the levels of

  1. Cholesterol- low-density lipoproteins (LDL).

  2. Serum glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase (SGOT) and serum glutamic pyruvic transaminase (SGPT).

Ultrasound sonography (USG) is suggestive of fatty liver.

Hopefully, chest discomfort is due to gastritis, and your doctor prescribed you Pantocid tablets (Pantoprazole) for that.

If you are still doubtful, then please send your electrocardiogram (ECG) and other reports to me for proper evaluation.

For heart, you can go for treadmill test (TMT) or stress on echocardiogram scan (ECHO) if you want to clear your doubt.

I also suggest you the instructions mentioned below:

  1. Pylokit tablets (used for peptic ulcers) for 7 days for proper cure of chronic gastritis (available at chemist shop).

  2. Tablet Atorvastatin 20 mg (lipid-lowering drug) daily for 30 days and then repeat lipid profile.

  3. Tablet Neurobion (vitamin B complex supplement) once daily for seven days.
  4. Digencain Gel (antacid and anti-flatulent) is to be taken two teaspoonfuls after a meal thrice daily.

Do not consume water with meals and do not lie down or sit immediately after meals. Take two or three rounds inside the room and then consume water after at least 15 to 20 minutes of meal.

Avoid oily, spicy, and junk foods.

If you have further questions, do follow up.

Thank you.
