Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My wife is suffering from chest infection. She is also having cough, vomiting, and fever every time after getting diagnosed with chest infection. Please suggest.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, your wife has been suffering from chest infection, fever, and cough with vomiting. Does she have a history of repeated chest infections? You have not mentioned the duration here. Please provide the history of allergy, previous disease, medications, environment, family, childhood, acid reflux, etc. She may be suffering from chronic cough followed by vomiting. So she have to undergo CXR (chest x-ray), CBC (complete blood count), ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate), Hb%, circulating eosinophil, skin prick test, Radioallergosorbent test (RAST) test, reversibility test, etc. Reversibility test is done to determine the presence of asthma. She can take broad spectrum antibiotic like Azithromycin, nebulization with Salbutamol, Salbutamol inhaler, Fexofenadine, Montelukast, and antiemetic medications.

Patient's Query

Thank you doctor,

She was diagnosed with tuberculosis in 2014.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I have gone through your given investigations result (attachment removed to protect patient identity) and found that she has been probably suffering from microcytic hypochromic anemia and her chest X-ray (CXR) reveals bilateral broncho vascular prominent that can occur due to chronic bronchitis, emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or some time from heart failure. From her complete blood count (CBC) report, it can be diagnosed that she has microcytic hypochromic anemia that can occur from hookworm infestation, chronic diseases like thalassemia, sickle cell anemia, thyroid hormone disorder, etc. Peptic ulcer disease, gynecological issues like uterine fibroid, endometriosis, nutritional deficiency, excessive bleeding during menstruation, prolonged menstrual cycle, antitubercular drugs can also cause anemia. She should take green leafy vegetables, green banana, fresh fruits, citrus foods like orange, lemon as they help in iron absorption, supplementary iron tablets, etc. Repeat her CBC report along with the above mentioned tests.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
