Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 21-year-old male who has quit using nicotine pouches for about two weeks. Since then I have had slight chest pain (2 out of 10 on a scale) that has developed on the left side of the chest, near the attachment of the pectoral muscle. Since I wanted to reduce the pain I have found that Aspirin could be a wise choice that is not even prescription based. I had taken 100 mg and I began to feel very uncomfortable symptoms. I became extremely focused to the point that it made me anxious, I had cold hands and feet and at the beginning, I was feeling like I was about to die. The heart problem has stopped but the symptoms from the Aspirin are much more of a concern for me. It has been about four hours now, my hands are warmer, and also my feet. I do not feel like death, but I do not feel comfortable going to sleep for some reason, nor do I have the tendency to go. I am writing this because I have a general fear of doctors because my mother is one and I do not want her to find out, that is why I am asking via the internet. Is it safe to assume that nothing will happen if I go to sleep? Thank you for your answer. My usual blood pressure notes were about 90/65 mmHg with a pulse of 80 bpm as of this morning.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
Your symptoms could be related to nicotine withdrawal although they are not classical. One dose of Aspirin should not be a matter of concern as it usually causes no symptoms. However, self-medication is not advised without a doctor's consultation. Drink plenty of water. I do not think it is a major concern. As your blood pressure is on the lower side it may need an evaluation if it is constantly lower. I hope this helps.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
It has been about eight hours now, I just recently got to the blood pressure device and I have measured a 125/84 mmHg lying in bed with a 98 bpm pulse rate. Sometimes I get a notification on the blood pressure reader that I have an irregular heartbeat. I do not know if I am capable of falling asleep.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
It could be due to palpitations. Do you feel like your heart beating loudly or feeling like racing or pacing of the heart? Is it happening regularly or occasionally? Is it associated with chest pain or sweating? Is it for the first time you are feeling so or it has happened in the past too? Kindly let me know.
Thank you.
