What is the treatment for a persistent bump inside the nose?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have a bump inside my nose. I have had it for almost two years now. It does not hurt. My biggest issue with it is that it catches mucus which hardens because I cannot blow or pick it out. It can trap a large quantity which is very noticeable to me. The only way I have found to get rid of the hardened mucus is with tweezers. Someone told me it might be a clogged pore, but I squeezed it with tweezers, and it bled. I do not think it is not bad or dangerous. How easy would it be to have it removed? Thanks.

Hello,

Welcome to iclinq.com.

I understand your concern. From the attached images (attachments removed to protect the patient's identity), it looks like some granulation tissue. It may be bleeding polyposis or rhinosporidiosis. Does it bleed? Has it increased in size, or has it remained the same for a while? You may get it removed and then send the excised specimen for biopsy to rule out other causes. I hope this information will help you. Thank you.
