What causes repeated tiny, itchy, pinkish bumps on my arms?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have had different types of skin allergies for the past three to four months. I have visited dermatologists many times. They treat one allergic condition, and another appears on the skin afterward. I am facing tiny, pinkish, itchy bumps on my skin that frequently appear on my arms. I am currently using a CNS depressant, Permethrin lotion, and an antihistamine, but the problem still persists.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
I am really sorry for what you are going through, with multiple skin conditions occurring one after the other. I am not able to open and view the picture that you have shared. Please re-share it so that I can see what you are having right at the moment for better clarity.
Based on your history, you have been experiencing multiple different skin conditions over the past few months, including urticaria, pityriasis rosea, scabies, and now recurrent tiny pink, itchy bumps on the arms. When different rashes appear one after another, it often suggests that the skin barrier has become sensitive and reactive rather than a completely new allergy each time.
The current small pink itchy bumps on the arms could represent persistent allergic dermatitis, papular urticaria, post-scabetic hypersensitivity, or irritant dermatitis, especially if Permethrin lotion has been used repeatedly, as overuse can itself cause irritation and itching.
Since you have already completed treatment for scabies, Permethrin lotion should not be continued unless there is confirmed reinfestation, because it can worsen dryness and itching. Antihistamines can help control itching, but if bumps continue to appear frequently, a short course of a mild topical steroid (under medical supervision) and regular use of a bland moisturizer twice daily may help calm the skin.
Use Fusidic acid gel over the lesions, and please share the picture again so that I can guide you better regarding whether you need a topical steroid or not. Meanwhile, avoid harsh soaps, hot showers, fragranced products, and tight clothing. Use a gentle cleanser and apply moisturizer immediately after bathing.
Please do not worry, skin conditions are chronic but very manageable when diagnosed properly. I would be very happy to guide and help you once I see the picture. Please share pictures from multiple angles, with and without flash, for better clarity.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer. For further queries, you can consult me at iCliniq.
Thank you.
