Is it appropriate to follow instructions given on the medicine cover or the instruction by the doctor in a 6-month-old child's treatment of cold?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have a 6-month-old child suffering from cold. Doctor prescribed syrup Delcon drops 0.8 milliter thrice a day. But dose on the medicine cover is 0.1 milliliter. Now which instruction I should follow?

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern. Drugs in children are prescribed on weight and severity of symptoms in a margin range. I would suggest you to call the doctor and review the child for any change.

I hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards.
