Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

My 7-month-old baby is having a cold and cough problem every day. May I know what causes it? And What shall I do to prevent this? It would be really helpful if you suggested some medicine for it.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

Most colds and coughs are due to upper respiratory tract infections due to viruses or exposure to allergens in the environment. To prevent such episodes, take precautions to protect the child from exposure to allergens such as dust, pollution, animals, plants, and people with colds and coughs. Prevent taking the child into crowded places. For colds and coughs, you can use oral antihistamine drops and mucolytic drops in the prescribed dose. Consult your specialist doctor, discuss with them and take the medicines with their consent. Clinical examination is important to look for any abnormal sounds in the lungs. Hence I suggest you consult the pediatrician for clinical examination and prescription of medications.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
