Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My uncle, aged 69, recently received the devastating news of being diagnosed with colorectal cancer. He is scheduled for surgery, during which a significant portion of his colon will need to be removed. I am deeply concerned about how this will impact his daily life, particularly regarding his ability to eat normally post-surgery.
In addition to battling cancer, my uncle is already grappling with various health issues, including high blood pressure, diabetes, and high cholesterol. It feels overwhelming to witness him facing such a heavy burden, especially with this new diagnosis.
I simply want reassurance that he will be able to recover well after the surgery. Eating is such a fundamental aspect of life, and the thought of him struggling to enjoy meals as he used to is incredibly distressing.
Kindly help.
Thank you.
Hi,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
Undergoing surgery and coping with its aftermath will undoubtedly be challenging. However, as someone employed in the medical oncology department, I am acutely aware of the risks associated with cancer metastasis for metastatic colorectal cancer. Given the formidable nature of this disease, taking this step is essential, even if it entails risks to life, especially when the entire body's well-being is at stake.
Rest assured, doctors will exert their utmost efforts to enhance feeding support. I hope this assurance alleviates some of your worries; after recovery, your loved one should be able to resume a normal diet.
I hope this information will help you.
Thank you.
