Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have been wondering about the difference between a common cold and the flu. Kindly guide me on how to differentiate a regular cold or something more serious and what should be done for respiratory issues. Kindly help.

Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

There is no distinction between the common cold and flu. Cold is a symptom you feel, and flu is a respiratory illness that is caused by a virus called Haemophilus influenza, and it presents with a cold, cough, sore throat, and hoarseness of voice. The symptoms mentioned are classical features of an upper respiratory tract infection.

I suggest you take the following medications:

  1. Take a tablet of Acetaminophen 500 mg and Metronidazole 400mg three times a day.
  2. Take a tablet of Co-Amoxiclav (Amoxicillin) 625 mg twice daily.

Kindly consult a physician talk to them and take the medications with their consent.

I hope this information will help you.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
