Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am taking osmotic laxatives and fiber supplements daily to treat constipation. This problem started four months ago, and now I am passing a decent amount of stool, but not enough. I still feel full. Some days I have constipation and do not feel well. I feel like I need to cleanse my stomach to get empty. What do you recommend? I am supposed to go to a specialist for this, but the referral is taking over a month. Please help me. Thank you.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

You are having chronic constipation problems. You need to rule out underlying organic causes if present by ultrasound (USG) scan. If it is functional constipation, then no need to worry. I suggest the following Daily exercise is recommended, drink more water daily, include green leafy vegetables in your diet. Whole grains, wheat bran, fruits, and green leafy vegetables should be taken more and avoid gas-forming foods like turnips, onions, cabbage, cauliflower, etc. With lifestyle changes, you will improve mostly. If not, then Psyllium husk with milk can be prescribed. Consult a physician for examination. Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
