Any deviation from the normal human anatomy causes disfigurement causing cosmetic concern, profoundly impacting an individual's mental well-being due to social stigmas. Such cosmetic disfigurement can be congenital and acquired. Skin diseases like vitiligo, burns, birthmark, cleft lip and palate, disfigurement due to road accidents, keloids, scarring, eczema, severe acne, leprosy, chickenpox, etc., are few examples. Various cosmetic treatments, reconstructive surgeries, and plastic surgeries help overcome the social stigma and replace the loss of function in some instances.
