Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

High resolution computed tomography (HRCT) of chest reveals patchy ground-glass haziness and pneumonitis on both sides with peripheral and upper/ lower zone predominance, indicating atypical viral pneumonia. Central venous line is seen in situ. The patient also faces breathing problems. Are there any chances of survival for this patient? Please help with your valuable opinion.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I can understand your concern. According to your statement, the patient has been suffering from atypical viral pneumonia. He also has been suffering from breathing difficulties. His recent HRCT (high-resolution computed tomography) of the chest has revealed patchy ground-glass haziness and pneumonitis on both sides of the lung with peripheral and upper/lower zone predominance, atypical viral pneumonia mostly caused by COVID-19 pneumonia with respiratory failure. He may need antiviral medications for his most probably COVID-19 pneumonia. It is difficult to predict his survival chance by seeing only the HRCT of the chest. Information about his present clinical features are very important. What is his oxygen saturation rate? It is below 93% or not. Roughly one among five patients with COVID-19 pneumonia may become worse. Immediate hospitalization, continue oxygen inhalation therapy, injectable antiviral medications, intravenous broad-spectrum antibiotics, injectable Dexamethasone may develop his current conditions. In case of any other query, ask me.
