I have a high penile erection angle. How to correct this?
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I have a question about my penis. I have a very high erection angle. My penis points straight up toward my stomach, and I am wondering if there is a way to make it point more straight outward instead.
I also have a small indentation in the middle of my shaft, and I am wondering what that could be.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
I have checked your penis picture (the attachments were removed to protect the patient's identity), and there is a mild bend in the penis, which looks normal. There can be multiple reasons for a bend in the penis. Penile curvature can be present from a young age or can develop later in life.
Some degree of natural curvature, upward, downward, or sideways, is normal and does not require treatment if there is no pain, no difficulty in penetration, and no distress.
However, if the bend is significant, worsening, painful, or interfering with sexual life, medical evaluation is necessary.
If there is pain, possible causes include:
-
Short frenulum. Please share pictures of the erect penis (side and below) for diagnosis; surgical management is the cure.
-
Phimosis. Please share pictures of the erect penis (side view) and the retracted foreskin; surgical management is the cure.
-
Peyronie’s disease, caused by scar tissue inside the penile muscle; a Doppler scan help in its diagnosis.
For temporary relief, you may use tablet Zerodol-P as a symptomatic measure, as it helps reduce pain and inflammation. This is not a permanent treatment.
I suggest you do not self-medicate long-term without proper evaluation.
I hope this will help you.
Thank you.
Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Thank you for your reply.
There is no pain, and I have had the upward curve for most of my life, which I believe may be due to tight ligaments. I am not completely sure about the indentation; it could be volume loss or a shorter, less elastic side, as I read on the internet.
I have also experienced a feeling of tightness in my penis, which is why I started taking Cialis. My penis shaft felt somewhat dense or rubbery. When I stretched it while flaccid, I could feel tightness just under the head of the penis, although it has softened a bit since then.
Still, I am definitely not happy with how it looks.
Kindly suggest.
Hello,
Welcome back to icliniq.com.
I understand your concern.
It is mainly cosmetic. From a functional point of view, if you do not have pain during sex or masturbation, then your condition is considered normal.
To give a simple example, a person may be born with a larger or differently shaped nose; the appearance may bother them, but the function of the nose is normal.
If they wish, they may choose cosmetic surgery purely to improve appearance, not function.
Similarly, in your case, the upward bend of the penis does not affect its function. Your penis is working normally. Cosmetic correction through surgery is an option only if the appearance continues to bother you, but medically and functionally, your penis is doing its job well.
I hope this helps you.
