Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 25-year-old male, weighing 149 pounds. I have a small mobile cyst just under the skin, on the upper surface of the penis, not painful, which appeared one day ago. I have had trichomycosis pubis mild for the past three days.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com
I read your query and understand your concern.
Based on your description, the possible causes for your cyst include:
Epidermal inclusion cyst (sebaceous cyst).
Blocked sebaceous gland (fordyce spot).
Trichomycosis pubis (or axillaris).
It is unlikely that the cyst is directly caused by the trichomycosis. They are probably two separate issues that have appeared around the same time. However, the bacterial presence from trichomycosis could theoretically lead to the infection of a pre-existing cyst if the skin's barrier is compromised, but this is not common.
Follow these measures:
1. Do not squeeze or puncture.
2. Practice good hygiene.
3. For the cyst: Keep the area clean with mild soap and warm water during your daily shower. Pat dry gently.
4. For Trichomycosis: The most effective treatment is to shave or trim the pubic hair in the affected area. This physically removes the bacteria-laden hairs. Follow this by washing the area with an antibacterial soap (e.g., one containing Benzoyl peroxide or Chlorhexidine) and keeping it dry.
Kindly consult the doctor in person if:
The cyst becomes painful, red, warm, or swollen (signs of infection).
It starts draining pus or fluid.
It rapidly increases in size.
It does not go away after several weeks and bothers you.
You are unsure about the diagnosis and want peace of mind.
I hope this helps.
Thank you.
