Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 24-year-old female who has missed periods since last month. What may be the cause, as I have not been sexually active for the past two months, and what should I do next?

Answered by Dr. Faiza Memon

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

When it comes to delayed periods, the cause is not necessarily pregnancy.

I would like to learn more about your periods, including their regularity, flow, and discomfort. I would also like to know about weight fluctuations, mood swings, and stress. All of these factors can disrupt period hormones and produce irregular periods.

I recommend that you take the following medications:

For 7 days, take a tablet of Dydrogesterone (progesterone) 10 mg tablet twice a day. Then wait 10 days for your period. Kindly consult a specialist, talk to them, and take medications with their consent.

Also, do the following blood tests listed below on the second day of your menstruation after fasting for 10 to 12 hours.

FSH (follicle stimulating hormone), LH (luteinizing hormone), prolactin, serum fasting insulin, TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone), and ultrasonography on the 12th day of the month.

This will help us figure out what is causing the condition and provide proper treatment.

I hope this helps.

Thank you.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
