Why are my periods delayed even after taking a Trust pill and following the Yuzpe method during unprotected sex?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Can I ask regarding my delayed period? I took the Trust pill and performed the Yuzpe method and now I should have my period.

My partner and I had unprotected sex and I experienced abnormal bleeding. What should be done and why my body is like this? I am getting nervous.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Since you followed the Yuzpe method, the problem may be due to hormone imbalance or infection of either the urinary tract or pelvic floor.

If you have doubts regarding pregnancy, go for a urine pregnancy test in the early morning urine sample and the following tests if possible.

1) Thyroid profile.

2) PAP (papanicolaou) smear of vaginal discharge for microbiology and others like cervicitis.

3) Urine routine and culture test.

4) Hb (hemoglobin) level and peripheral smear study.

5) Ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis.

This will narrow down your problem.

You need antibiotics, analgesics, and antihistamines along with douching of the vagina with an antiseptic solution and vaginal pessary or ointment for five days.
