This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 37-year-old male, and I do not have any health disorders or diseases. I have been lifting weights at the gym for the past year. Recently, I have been experiencing pain in my right deltoid muscle, and I have not been able to lift anything for the past week. I am concerned about this pain and wondering how to alleviate it. Also, I am worried if the pain will recur if I continue lifting weights. Please help.

Regarding your symptoms of pain in the right deltoid muscle following your previous weightlifting session, it appears you may have torn your muscle, leading to an acute sprain syndrome. To manage this, please follow the prescribed treatment plan below. With proper care, the pain should not recur, and you should be able to resume lifting again. I suggest you follow the below-mentioned instructions:

  1. Take a tablet of Acetaminophen 500 mg orally three times a day.
  2. Take a tablet of Diclofenac 100 mg orally twice a day.
  3. Take a capsule of Piroxicam 40 mg orally twice a day.
  4. Apply a cream containing Diclofenac and Paracetamol topically twice a day.

If your symptoms persist, I suggest you schedule another appointment for a follow-up consultation. I suggest you consult a specialist, talk with them, and take the medications with their consent. I hope this has helped you. Kindly follow up if you have more doubts.

Thank you.
