Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com

I understand your concern.

I am so sorry for what you are going through. Your age is not a typical age for dementia, so its probability is very low. Nevertheless, other potential causes should be evaluated. For anyone in your age with a memory problem, the below evaluations are needed (step by step):

1. Mini-mental state examination. It is a clinical examination that should be done by a physician.

2. A complete blood test, including a check of vitamin B12 and thyroid function, is needed.

3. Electroencephalography (EEG).

4. Brain MRI (Magnetic resonance imaging).

The above-mentioned evaluations are needed to check which element of your memory or cognitive function has a problem and to find the potential causes. For example, severe anemia, low vitamin B12, or thyroid gland dysfunction can cause memory issues. Sometimes, brain wave disruptions may cause it, so an EEG would be necessary to check. Finally, looking at brain images may help, which will be done via MRI.

I hope this helps.

Kindly follow back if you have more concerns.

Regards.
