Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I have two abscesses in my mouth. Both have fistulas and I drain them every day. I am in constant worry that the infection will spread to my bone or brain. What can be done?

Kindly help.

Hello,

I appreciate you signing up on icliniq.

You now have exclusive access to expert medical opinion.

If you drain the abscesses daily then the chances of spreading are less but as the source of infection is not removed, it can flare up anytime. But do not worry as it does not spread to the brain so early rather it is a rare incident. So it is better to consult a dentist and get evaluated and an X-ray of the teeth should be done. If the teeth can be saved then root canal treatment can be done. If there is gross decay then extraction is advisable. It should be followed by antibiotics and painkillers.

I hope this has helped you. Thank you.
