Patient's Query
Hi doctor,
My teeth are getting weak. Cavities are affecting my teeth, and sometimes small pieces are breaking off. I'm a bit worried. I do not eat much sugar or anything else that affects my teeth. I used to brush twice a day but am still facing problems. I am a bit worried about my condition. Does vitamin D deficiency affect teeth? What should I do?
Please guide.
Thank you.
Hi,
Icliniq.com welcomes you.
I am thrilled to be able to serve you.
I understand your concern.
It is better to get treatment done for the cavitated teeth as soon as possible. Once the cavity deepens, the tooth wall becomes fragile and can chip off. When a cavitated tooth goes untreated, there is a high chance of adjacent teeth developing cavities due to food impaction. The most important factor in tooth cavities is the time period of contact between food particles and the tooth. The longer the contact period, the higher the probability of cavities.
I suggest you brush twice daily using proper brushing techniques, followed by flossing, and seek appropriate treatment for the cavitated teeth. Yes, there is a significant relationship between vitamin D and tooth cavities. Kindly provide a clinical picture and further information for diagnosis and treatment planning.
Regarding the follow-up, kindly provide the clinical picture and X-rays if possible, along with your vitamin D level, for further diagnosis and treatment planning.
I hope you are satisfied with my answer.
You can revert in case of further queries.
Thank you.
