Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am currently 26 weeks pregnant. Since becoming pregnant, my bottom front teeth have felt rough and now, I have a tiny bit of dark coloration at the bottom of the teeth and the front part of my gum is slightly getting lifted. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I can understand your concern.

First of all, congratulations. May god bless you both with good health. Secondly, as you mentioned, 26 weeks means you have just entered the third trimester, so no treatment is advised in the third trimester. You are a bit late for any dental treatment since the second trimester is the safest for dental treatment. No worries, let it be till delivery, and after that, visit a dentist as soon as possible. Many dental symptoms appear during pregnancy due to medications or hormonal changes and may fade away postpartum. So wait and watch and hope for the best. Do update me post-delivery if the symptoms remain; I shall guide you likewise. Till then, kindly maintain oral hygiene, brush twice daily, and do not miss nighttime brushing. Massage your gums after brushing, then rinse with warm water and salt.

I hope this information will help you.

Thanks.
