Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am 27 years old. I am obese, and I am facing some emotional breakdowns from time to time. I have been married for almost nine years now. I got married at the very young age of 18.
At some points, I thought of committing suicide too but could not because I knew it was not a solution to any kind of problem, and, I am a mother of two. I think my married life is not good. But I cannot get rid of it because of my kids. I do not want to ruin their life. I feel helpless every second of my life.
Kindly help.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I read your query and can understand your concern.
You may have a major depressive disorder. There is non-pharmacological management for your depression, you should try to follow the below guidelines to deal with it. It will help you.
If you cannot change your life and condition, you need to learn to accept it. If you can change then try to change it. Do not keep complaining about your life. You cannot change your past, so you should concentrate on the present and future. You must work on it and shape it for a better future.
You should exercise 30 to 45 minutes daily, like at least going for a walk. if possible, join the gym or swimming, and lose some weight. It will give you confidence.
You should do meditation for 20 minutes daily. Just sit in one place in a comfortable position, and try to concentrate on your normal breathing. Then, let your thoughts go without trying to stop them. It will aid in your relaxation.
You should eat healthy home-cooked foods and avoid junk foods. Take the help of a dietician to lose weight.
You must drink enough water.
You should spend quality time with friends and family daily.
You should learn to love your husband and accept him. You should think about the positive aspects of your marriage life.
You should spend time on creative hobbies like reading good books, writing journals, painting, drawing, and learning new skills.
You should get enough seven to eight hours of sleep daily.
You must avoid tobacco, alcohol, or any substance abuse.
Rather than merely spending your life, live it.
Be bold and confident.
Suicide is not the solution to any problem.
Love yourself and respect yourself.
You are unique. If you do not respect yourself then no one is going to respect you.
Work on your weaknesses.
I would suggest you check CBC (complete blood count), thyroid profile, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, RBS (random blood sugar), and lipid profile.
If you still have symptoms that persist after following the advice for four to six weeks, then you need to start medications for a short duration.
I hope this helps.
Thank you and take care.
Regards.
