Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 21-year-old female with a height of 5’5 feet and a weight of 123 lbs. I have diabetes for the last ten years. I am taking insulin daily, Mixtard 70/30, and Novorapid. My Hba1c is 8.5 %, and at midnight for the previous two weeks, I feel like urinating, and this problem is disputing my sleep. In the morning, I do not have this symptom, as my frequency of urination is as usual. Also, I do not feel thirsty and do not drink more water. Last month also I experienced the same problem before menstruation. I am not taking any other medications other than insulin. Please help.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read the query, and I can understand your concern.

HbA1c (glycated hemoglobin test) of 8 % shows unsatisfactory control of blood sugar. Your target should be at least 6.5 %. Excessive urination at night is due to raised blood sugar and is more noticeable at night because it bothers sleep. It is not related to menstruation usually. I suggest you consult your doctor and have your medication reevaluated. The dose needs to be increased for satisfactory control of blood sugar.

I hope this information helps you. If you have any further queries feel free to ask.

Thank you.
