Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
My uncle is 54 and has type 1 diabetes, but recently, he has been struggling with rapid weight gain and constant fatigue. Last month, his fasting blood sugar was 300, and his HbA1c was 10.5%. He says his feet burn at night and that he has been losing sensation in his toes. His doctor mentioned diabetic neuropathy, but he is also concerned about circulation problems because his feet are always cold. Could the weight gain be worsening his neuropathy, or could something else be causing these symptoms?
Please advise.
