Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I am a retired person aged 69 years. I am a CKD patient on dialysis for the last three years. Recently, the fistula on my left hand has been blocked. Through venogram, it is seen that it could not work anymore. Due to the blood clots, the flow has been distributed; hence permacath was placed ten days ago. Three dialyzes have been done through that, but with the fourth dialysis again, the blood clots issue started. Can you please help me out on how these blood clots can be removed or what causes these clots? I have taken two doses of Covishield too. What preventive measures do I need to take so that dialysis may be smooth with this catheter? Currently, I am taking Gemcal, Pentocid 40, Ferronemia Plus, Meltor 40, Rosumac F, Amlovas 5, and Cremaffin.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

Following is my opinion for your asked question. Actually, during dialysis, it is common to form a blood clot, and the reason behind this is a disturbance of blood flow during dialysis. Therefore, Heparin or some other anticoagulant can be given before and during dialysis procedures to prevent or treat blood clots. The anticoagulant therapy should be started by your doctor only. So, as per my opinion, with anticoagulant therapy, your dialysis will go smoothly, and there will be minimal blood clot formation that. I hope I have answered your question.

Let me know if I can assist you further.

Best regards.
