How to treat difficulty breathing, coughing, and sneezing at night?

This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

I have difficulty breathing at night during sleeping hours, and a strange moaning sound comes as a cough always stuck in my throat with an itchy feeling in my nose. Coughing and sneezing have been happening for a long time. Recent blood tests show that I have high eosinophils.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com. I can understand your concern. By your history and description possibility of allergic rhinitis with allergic bronchitis is more likely. So start Allegra (Montelukast and Fexofenadine) and Duonase nasal spray. I hope this information will help.

Patient's Query

Hi doctor,

Thanks for the reply. Kindly inform me how long I have to continue these and the instructions for taking those medicines, like how many pills I have to take and when those should be taken before or after lunch and dinner.

Hi,

Welcome back to icliniq.com. I understand your concern. Take Allegra twice daily after breakfast and dinner. Take Duonase nasal spray, two puffs in each nostril twice daily for five days. Do follow up after five days. Do steam inhalation, and warm water gargles four to five times a day. Avoid cold stuff like ice cream, cold drinks, and soda. I hope this information will help.
