Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

When I woke this morning, I went to the bathroom, my neck ached so I stretched my head back and opened my chest. I got extremely dizzy and had to hold onto the wall. Later I went for a massage. They worked on my neck and chest, and I started feeling nauseous and dizzy again. Why so?

Kindly help.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I have read your query and I am sorry for such discomfort.

  1. Is the soreness or ache still present on the back of the neck even after the massage?
  2. Is the ache over the neck increased after massage?
  3. Any pain in the chest due to overstretching of chest muscle fibers?
  4. Did you feel dizzy?
  5. Do you get any cervical neck pain on and off due to work?
  6. Do you take any medications for BP?
  7. Any problem with cervical spondylosis earlier?
  8. Have you checked your BP?
  9. Dizziness can be explained by sudden stretching of the neck doing extension movement which can initiate a dizziness episode but it remains momentarily and twisting of muscle fibers can cause nausea as well. A sudden increase in BP can also cause dizzy and nauseous feelings. Need further detail of the present medical problem to link it with other symptoms.

    I hope this helps.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I still feel a little nauseous and just not right. No pain in the neck. I do not take any medicine. I have recently had all my bloodwork done. Still dealing with the pains in my rhomboid and chest (costochondritis) for the past 7 months. Blood work is good. LDL is high but good cholesterol and overall all cholesterol is within range. Did a CT for calcium scoring test and it was a 45.

Hello,

Welcome back to icliniq.com.

Based on your medical history which you have provided, it could be due to muscle pull or stretch of the lower one-third of the neck. Get BP done. You can take the tablet Ondansetron 4 mg three times a day for 2 to 3 days for nausea feeling. Avoid taking the above-suggested medicine after the nauseous feeling clears away. It is good to hear that recent laboratory work is normal. No need to take anti-analgesic medication as you have mentioned now there is no neck pain.

I will follow up after 3 days from now to assess your symptoms. Please follow up if you have any further queries about it.

I hope this helps.

Same symptoms don't mean you have the same problem. Consult a doctor now!
