Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I am a 48-year-old male. I feel like food is stuck in my throat, and I have pain at the bottom of my rib. What can I do?
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I completely understand your concern, and I want to reassure you that you did the right thing by reaching out.
The sensation of food being stuck in your throat, especially if it occurs frequently, along with pain near the bottom of your ribcage, may be related to conditions affecting your esophagus or stomach, such as acid reflux, esophagitis, or sometimes a hiatal hernia. In some cases, difficulties with swallowing (known as dysphagia) can also cause this feeling.
While it may not always indicate something serious, it is important not to ignore it, as difficulty swallowing can occasionally signal an underlying problem that requires proper evaluation.
In the meantime:
However, I strongly recommend that you see a doctor in person for an examination and possibly some tests (such as an endoscopy or imaging) to better understand what is happening.
If you develop sudden difficulty swallowing liquids, severe chest pain, or vomit blood, you should seek urgent medical attention immediately.
Please remember that you are not alone in this, and help is available. If you have more questions or if your symptoms change, do not hesitate to reach out. I am here to guide and support you whenever you need.
Thank you.
