This Premium Q&A, reviewed and published, features a real conversation between an iCliniq user and a physician.

Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am a 33-year-old male and have been married for the past seven years. I do not have any medical condition currently. However, after sexual intercourse, I have had pain in my suprapubic region, dysuria, and flank pain for the past year. My partner does not have any symptoms. l do not have multiple partners. I feel better after a course of antibiotics. I tried multiple antibiotics for her, but the problem persists. Screening tests for CMV, EBV, gonorrhea, and chlamydia were done in addition to urine analysis with culture and vaginal swab with culture. All tests were normal except for the heavy growth of Enterococci that appeared in the vaginal swab. It is resistant to multiple antibiotics but sensitive to Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid- Ampicillin and Sulbactam- Piperacillin and Tazobactam, Vancomycin, Linezolid, Tigecycline. I used Augmentin for one week for both of us. However, the problem persists. Please help.

Thank you.

Hi,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

I read your query and understand your concern.

I am very sorry about your medical condition. Regarding your symptoms of suprapubic pain, dysuria, and flank pain after intercourse with your spouse, I propose you have developed a urinary tract infection. I suggest you take the following medication.

1. Injection Ceftriaxone 1 gm daily for a week.

2. Tablet Ciprofloxacin 500 mg per oral.

3. Tablet Metronidazole 400 mg three times a day.

4. Tablet Ketoconazole 200 mg twice daily.

Consult your doctor and take the medicines accordingly.

I hope this information will help you. Please revert in case of further queries.

Thank you.
