Patient's Query

Hello doctor,

I am 18-year-old and this morning about 3 AM my stomach started to hurt I just tried to sleep through it and that did not work so I looked at my clock and it is about time for me to get up to get ready to go to school. But then I felt like I needed to go to the bathroom so I got up and ran to the bathroom but nothing happened so I went to lay on my bed but long story short I felt something in my throat and I grabbed my trash and I felt like I started to gag on something in my throat. Then I felt like throwing up and like I do not know how to explain it like its disgusting like it looked like a hairball but it was not it was dark like blackish looking with a little green in it and it stinted it did not smell like throw up it had a sour nasty smell and ever since this morning I have had egg burps and diarrhea and bad stomach pain. Please help me I am looking it up and the results are to be H.pylori and I have had this before.

Hello,

Welcome to icliniq.com.

This is due to GERD (gastroesophageal reflux syndrome) with reflux esophagitis overlapping with gastroenteritis. Severe gastritis causes the return of the contents of the stomach back to the food pipe. The constant backwash of acid is irritating the lining of your esophagus causing it to become inflamed (esophagitis). Heartburn is the primary symptom that causes a feeling like burning, pain, nausea, vomiting, gagging, and metallic taste. Repeated vomiting and mucosal inflammation are causing pain in your case. In your case, to relieve pain a combination of antispasmodic plus anti-inflammatory should be taken for a few days (Mefenamic acid 250 mg or Dicyclomine hydrochloride 10 mg, 250 or 10 mg) twice daily. Hot water fomentation can also give some relief. Prochlorperazine maleate 5 mg can be taken to control nausea. Kindly contact the specialist before taking any medication. Recurrent vomiting causes exhaustion of intercostal muscles and other accessory muscles in the chest area causing pain. Take Neksium (Esomeprazole) 40 mg twice daily. Antacids (mucine gel) can be taken to neutralize the acid in the esophagus and stomach. A probiotic should be taken daily to improve overall digestion. If the flu is persisting, a short course of antibiotics Azithromycin 500 mg once daily can also be taken.

I suggest you take the following test:

1. Stool routine and microscopy (rule out any underlying infection).

2. Ultrasound abdomen.

I hope I have cleared all your doubts.

Thank you.
