Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
Looking for insight as to what these results mean. I was never aware of having EBV. Epstein-Barr Capsid Ag IgG titer >750.00 U/mL (H). Epstein-Barr virus Capsid Ag IgM Ab- 600.00 U/mL (H).
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I have read your query and understand your concern. The tests you attached are for EBV (Epstein-Barr virus) infection and they are interpreted as the following:
1. EBV Capsid Ag IgG titer: Positive
2. EBV Capsid Ag IgM antibodies: Negative
3. EBV Nuclear Associated Ag IgG: Positive
The Ag (antigens) IgGs are positive, which means you have been infected before, and it is resolved already. The IgM antibodies are negative, which means you are not infected now. So your tests mean you have had a past infection and you recovered from it. EBV infection can present with symptoms like sore throat and is called mononucleosis or mono. But most people will get infected with EBV in their lifetime and will not have any symptoms. For the time being you do not need to worry. No treatment or any medical intervention is needed. I hope this information helps you.
Thank you.
