Patient's Query
Hello doctor,
I feel I have erectile dysfunction. For the past three times I met my girlfriend, I did very well in one of my five or six rounds of sex.
Please help.
Thank you.
Hello,
Welcome to icliniq.com.
I can understand your concern.
It is completely understandable to feel concerned about your performance, but from what you describe, it does not sound like true erectile dysfunction. Occasional difficulty maintaining an erection or not performing the same way every time is very common, especially in younger men.
Many factors can temporarily affect erections, such as fatigue, anxiety, stress, alcohol, lack of sleep, or overthinking. The fact that you were able to perform well in at least one of several rounds shows that your physical ability to achieve and maintain an erection is intact, which strongly suggests this is more likely performance anxiety or situational rather than a medical form of erectile dysfunction.
You can help improve consistency by managing stress, ensuring adequate rest, avoiding heavy alcohol use, and focusing on relaxation and emotional connection during intimacy rather than performance. If you notice persistent issues over several months or have morning erections less frequently, it may be worth discussing with a doctor to rule out hormonal or circulatory causes.
But for now, your experience sounds normal, and with a bit of reassurance and confidence, your performance should become more consistent.
I hope this helps.
Kindly follow up if you have more concerns.
Thank you.
